L’osservazione è interessante, ma… Il fatto è che, quando si ha a che fare con il web, occorre essere semplici e succinti perché noi tutti siamo subissati dai messaggi on line per cui, se non sono più che brevi, clicchiamo sul del! La Nussbaum ritiene che un’insistenza eccessiva od esclusiva sugli studi eminentemente tecnologici, ovviamente utilissimi e necessari per un mondo del lavoro in cui le tecnologie sono dominanti, non aiuta, però, la formazione di quel pensiero critico e disinteressato che, invece, dovrebbe connotare ciascuno di noi, oggi, in una società che si fa sempre più difficile. Pensiamo ai grossi rischi di omologazione linguistico- culturale a cui siamo esposti proprio in virtù di uno schiacciamento qualitativo della produzione/fruizione linguistica che è inversamente proporzionale al moltiplicarsi dei social network, dei blog e dei sempre più
numerosi parliamociaddosso che il web favorisce e sollecita.

Noi italiani veniamo da un mondo di analfabeti, o meglio di parlanti non scriventi, in cui si scriveva e si parlava poco; poi abbiamo conquistato il leggere/scrivere per tutti: grande conquista, ma…. Ora… sembra che ci muoviamo con estrema velocità verso un altro mondo in cui si scrive e si parla troppo, però, purtroppo, di nulla! E c’è un altro pericolo: che la società multiculturale, quella interessante e ricca che tutti auspichiamo, si appiattisca invece su campi di comunicazione di basso profilo, tutti curvati all’essenzialità della reciproca sopravvivenza: poche parole, pochi connettivi logici! I non-luoghi e le non-patrie paventati da Marc Augé per le popolazioni migranti, potrebbero essere anche i non-luoghi e le non-patrie delle popolazioni accoglienti. Andiamo verso una società mondiale della multignoranza?

Si dovrebbe giungere ad un’analoga impresa, mutatis mutandis! Sempreché disponessimo di una classe dirigente veramente tale! Cerchiamo di essere ottimisti! Sta a noi cambiare le cose!
In uno scenario di questo tipo, la cultura umanistica della Nussbaum non ha nulla a che vedere con il liceo né quello di Gentile né quello “rifatto” della Gelmini! Il problema di fondo non è quello di erogare una cultura umanistico/letteraria o classica che sia ad uno sparuto gruppo di soggetti opportunamente preselezionati dalle fortune famigliari solo per differenziarli da altri meno fortunati. E’ stato così, certamente, anche nelle scelte scolastiche postunitarie, in un contesto socioeconomico che era quello che era, con il lavoro manuale dominante, in cui però era anche necessario che tutti imparassero a leggere, scrivere e far di conto. Oggi quei tre obiettivi sono altri: che tutti apprendano a vivere in una società difficile e complessa, in cui sono necessari non solo saperi alti, ma anche comportamenti alti: tutto ciò che concerne la responsabilità di ciascuno e di tutti in una società che non solo richiede conoscenze e competenze alte, ma anche l’esercizio di quei doveri che una società democratica esige.
Ora, questo mix di competenze elevate e di condivisione dei doveri e dei diritti non potrà non essere un patrimonio di tutti. A tal fine serve un sistema di istruzione fortemente unitario nelle sue finalità culturali e civiche nonché quella formazione umanistica della Nussbaum che non ha nulla a che vedere con l’istruzione liceale tout court: una formazione che attraversa tutta l’istruzione almeno per tutto il curricolo obbligatorio.
Solo successivamente i cittadini/studenti opereranno le loro scelte, tutti di pari dignità, e la connotazione di ciascun percorso sarà quella della ricerca rigorosa e mirata. A tal fine le tecnologie costituiranno uno strumento prezioso e non saranno fini a se stesse! Lo studente che attende al latino e al greco, in seguito ad una scelta responsabile e non per le sollecitazioni di una famiglia di un certo tipo, dovrà operare con lo stesso rigore dello studente che opera alle altre mille discipline degli altri mille percorsi.
Ciascuna disciplina avrà la sua dignità di disciplina di ricerca. Infatti, ciascun settore di ricerca ha le sue difficoltà: non ci sono percorsi difficili per alunni bravi e percorsi facili per alunni meno fortunati. La sfida sarà altamente impegnativa perché l’area dell’istruzione dovrebbe veramente essere messa in condizione di decondizionare ciò che società ingiuste finora, invece, hanno potentemente condizionato.
